— Exhibit A — Introduction

Think you need a lawyer?
I won't take your case.

Forty years as a North Carolina trial attorney, now spent helping people understand their situation before they walk into a lawyer’s office — not representing them once they do. I listen, organize the facts, explain the law in plain terms, and lay out your options. The decision stays yours.

— Exhibit B — About

A trial lawyer's judgment, without the representation.

I spent four decades in North Carolina courtrooms as a litigation attorney, and I hold an MSW with a clinical background alongside my legal training. Martin Consulting is what I built after retiring from active practice — a way to put that experience to work for people who need to understand a legal situation clearly before they decide what to do about it.

I’m not your attorney, and I’m not trying to become your attorney. I listen to what’s going on, organize the facts the way a trial lawyer would before a hearing, explain the relevant law in plain, everyday language, and lay out the realistic options — without pushing you toward any one of them.
If you already have an attorney, I can help you prepare for that relationship and get more out of it. If you don’t yet, I can help you figure out whether you need one, and for what.
— Exhibit C — What I Do

Three parts. Same order, every time.

Every engagement follows the same structure I used for forty years of case preparation — because it works.
Part 1 of 3

Get the Facts Straight

We go through your situation in detail and I organize it clearly — what’s documented, what’s reported, and what’s still unconfirmed. No assumptions treated as facts.

Part 2 of 3

Understand the Law

I explain, in plain language, what the relevant law actually says and how it generally applies to situations like yours — and flag the real open questions worth asking an attorney.

Part 3 of 3

See Your Options

A neutral menu of realistic paths forward, with the pros and cons of each — so you walk into any next conversation informed, not guessing.

— Exhibit D — Stipulation

Two promises this practice is built on.

01

I do not take cases for representation. Ever. My role stays advisory, start to finish.

02

I do not accept referral fees from attorneys I send you to. If you hire one, I ask them to credit you for what you paid me — not pay me for the referral.
